UMBRELLAS TO THE RESCUE: The drizzle did not dampen the enthusiasm of Kanowit folk.
KANOWIT: A drizzle failed to stop Kanowit folk from thronging the opening of ‘Pesta Ria’ programme at the town centre here on Friday.
The two-day programme was jointly organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu branches of Pakan, Meluan, Ngemah and Machan in conjunction with their triennial delegates’ meeting.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi graced the opening ceremony.
Also present were Nanta’s wife Datin Angelina Celestine Ujang, Land Development Assistant Minister Datuk Gramong Juna and wife Datin Catherine Gramong, Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Maurice Giri.
Intan Akademi Fantasia 1, Melissa Francis and Gabriel Fairuz Louis entertained.
Besides singing and cultural performances were stalls selling various items.
