Local killed as 4WD smashes into back of lorry

LAHAD DATU: A local man was killed when his Nissan Navara four-wheel drive vehicle rammed into a lorry at KM 51, Lahad Datu-Tungku road on Monday.

District Acting police chief ASP Bong Khuet Khiun said Pua Boh Cheng, 54, died in the hospital.

He said the two vehicles were travelling in the same direction to Felda Sahabat from Lahad Datu around 9.50am when the Nissan Navara crashed into the back of the lorry.

“Initial investigation showed the victim was going down a hill when his vehicle rammed into the back of the lorry.

“The victim suffered head injuries, broken arms and broken legs, and died while receiving treatment,” he said.

Bong added the lorry’s driver was not injured, and the case was investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
