Twelve dead, twenty one feared killed as bus plunges into Genting Highlands ravine (UPDATE)

KUALA LUMPUR: Twelve people were killed and 21 others are feared dead after an express bus descending from Genting Highlands plunged into a 200-feet deep ravine at KM3.5 Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur today.

Sixteen victims have been brought out of the ill-fated bus and are now receiving treatment at several hospitals for their injuries.

The bus believed to be carrying 49 passengers was on its way from Genting Highlands to here.

Federal Territory Fire and Rescue assistant director Azizan Ismail said the accident happened at 2.22pm.

“The Fire and Rescue Department has mobilised 150 men for the search and rescue operation,” he told reporters at the disaster location. -Bernama
