KOTA KINABALU: Quick-thinking saved a man from being burnt to death after his car burst into flames here yesterday.

The man, in his late 30s and who wished to be known only as Henry, said he was shocked by an explosion in the engine of his car as he was driving in Kampung Air here.

“Without losing any time, I quickly unbuckled my safety belt and alighted from the car. Only then did I realise that the front of my car was already in flames,” he said.

Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy Ramin said the car was about 80 per cent destroyed. — Bernama
