Filipino admits causing death

KOTA KINABALU: A Filipino youth pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here yesterday to causing the death of his 40-year-old male companion.

Judge Azreena Aziz, however, deferred sentencing to September 17 this year for Adzmi Basari, 21, pending submission of the facts of case and the victim’s post-mortem report.

The accused was charged with killing Jani Aminon between August 11, 11.30pm and August 12, 12.30am, at a workers quarters in Menggatal.

The charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 (a) of the Penal Code carries a maximum 20 years jail term and shall be liable to a fine, upon conviction.

The court rejected bail for the accused as he did not have valid documents.
