Thailand bestows highest honours on Agong, queen

HUA HIN, Thailand: Thailand yesterday bestowed the highest honours on visiting Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.

The Crown Prince of Thailand, Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, presented ‘The Knight of the Most Illustrious Order of the Royal House of Chakri (Thailand)’ to Tuanku Abdul Halim and the ‘Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Illustrious Order of the Chula Chom Klao (Thailand)’ to Tuanku Hajah Haminah.

The award of the honours was carried out at the Klai Kangwon Palace here. Also present during the ceremony were Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and several palace officials.

Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Haminah are on a three-day state visit to Thailand from yesterday.

Today, Their Majesties will grant an audience to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, and attend a state banquet at the Chakri Throne Hall at the Grand Palace. — Bernama
