MIRI: An unidentified man was seen running into a heavily tinted car after firing a marble with a catapult into a food outlet selling laksa at Boulevard Commercial Centre on Wednesday night.

The impact caused a small hole in the outlet’s glass panel.

Luckily, none of its staff or customers was injured in the 8.54pm incident.

The stall usually closes around 9.30pm.

Miri police chief ACP Mun Kock Keong, when contacted yesterday morning, confirmed to have received a report on the incident.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

Police are still investigating the motive.

According to one of the staff, who wished to be known as Lee, he was at the cashier’s counter when the incident occurred.

“Six other female staff were in the kitchen, as we were about to close for the night, upon hearing the ‘pop’ sound, I immediately called my boss and informed him,” he said, adding the boss immediately called the police for help.

The incident has not only shocked the outlet’s staff and customers but those in the vicinity.
