Let LDP delegates decide fate of ‘rotten fish’ – VP

SANDAKAN: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president should have let the 800 party congress delegates decide the fate of the so-called “rotten fish” instead of sacking them, said LDP vice president Lim Kai Min.

He asked whether LDP president Datuk Liew Vui Keong had considered the interests of the party when he sacked and stripped party leaders of their posts.

“If the president really thinks that the party leadership consists of many so-called ‘rotten fish’, he should have let the 800 party congress delegates decide the fate of these ‘rotten fish’,” Lim said.

He said he believed that the delegates should be able to determine ‘good or bad fish’ in order to select suitable leaders to lead the party.

Lim, who is also LDP Karamunting division chairman, said the division supported the call to hold an election for the top two party posts. The division also supports Datuk Teo Chee Kang to contest for the presidential post.

He stressed that party election is normal and should not cause disunity within the party.

“LDP is like a vessel, the captain has to be responsible for its success or defeat,” Lim said.

Since LDP won the Sandakan parliamentary constituency in 2008, the captain (Liew) has taken charge of the resource management for the next five years.

Logically, Lim said Liew should have won his parliamentary constituency with ease in the general election this year. However, the vessel capsized in the general election despite the ‘captain’ having all these advantages, he said.

Lim said this revealed the shortcomings of the captain, especially in his leadership, which has ultimately led to dissent and disunity.
