Depts, agencies urged to join Toihaan Toastmasters Club

KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology Datuk Siringan Gubat urges departments and agencies under the ministry to join Toihaan Toastmasters Club as effective communication could determine the scope of one’s success.

Siringan stressed the importance of communication whether at home or work as effective communication could determine the extent of one’s success and growth.

“It is a skill that everyone can acquire. And toastmasters club makes this easier by providing time-tested tools that allow us to become effective communicators and leaders as we grow.

“Therefore, I urge everyone in this room who is not a toastmaster yet to join a club nearby,” he said at the second installation ceremony of Toihaan Toastmasters Club executive committee here on Thursday.

He also suggested that other ministries or government agencies considered setting up their own toastmasters club.

Siringan said Toastmaster International was established in 1924, of which 14,350 toastmasters club are located in 122 countries, and have 292,000 members worldwide.

Also present at the event was Toihaan Toastmasters Club president Bruno Vun, who is also permanent secretary to the Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology.
