SANDAKAN: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) supreme council has resolved to accept the appointments of Datuk Pang Yuk Ming as the party’s new deputy president and Alex Lo Ket Hau as the central Youth chief with immediate effect.

The resolution was made at the 26th supreme council meeting chaired by embattled party president Datuk VK Liew which was held at the conference room of a hotel here yesterday. The newly-appointed secretary general, Loretto Padua Jr, has confirmed that there was enough quorum.

The supreme council members who were appointed by the president are Tiong King Kiong, Christopher Lee Ching Seng, Michael David Tsen Nyuk Kong, Chu Yen Foh, Jennifer Chan Yee Nan, Lo Wui Hon, Choong Kwek Leong, Alex Lo Ket Hau, Ho Nyuk Kam, Wong Thung Tee, Chang Choi Sin, Poh Tiong Sheng, Andrew Chang Choi Ann, Chua Hong Hui and Kapitan Chai Kui Ping.

During the meeting, the newly appointed supreme council also declared that the so-called supreme council meeting on September 6 by suspended deputy president Datuk Chin Su Phin is illegal and void ab initio.

According to Liew, the supreme council resolved and declared that there was no supreme council held at any time before this one and any meeting held without notice from the executive secretary and/or the secretary general is thereby illegal and contravenes the party’s constitution.

“Hence, the so-called meeting led by the suspended deputy president held on Friday 6th September 2013 is illegal and void ab initio. Any decisions made or statements given thereof by him or Datuk Teo Chee Kang or anyone on their behalf concerning the party have no legal or any binding effect on the party whatsoever. The members are urged to ignore them,” said Liew in a press statement issued here after the meeting.

He added that the supreme council also took notice of the newspapers’ report last Friday quoting the party’s ex-secretary general Datuk Teo Chee Kang as saying that they had filed an action in court on Friday.

“However, as at today, no court documents or whatsoever had been served on the secretary general, Mr Loretto Padua Jr @ Damien Padua Jr II, who is the party’s public officer. The supreme council therefore took the advice not to issue any statement on this matter until the court papers have been served,” Liew said.

He disclosed that the supreme council also deliberated extensively on the conducts and behaviors of the members who were since removed from the supreme council on 31st August 2013.

“Their conducts and behaviors have continued to bring the party into disrepute, hatred and contempt and their blatant disregard to the party’s interest and the party’s constitution has caused disaffection and disunity amongst the party members.

“They have rebelled against the party and have no respect to the party’s constitution. Further, they have been given ample time to resolve the matters or disputes, if any, with the president but they refused, failed and/or neglected to do so,” said Liew.

In this regards, the supreme council resolved that it is desirable in the interests of the party that the president to suspend the following members from all their positions immediately in the party pending inquiry from the Disciplinary Committee. They are, Datuk Teo Chee Kang, Ho Jia Lit, Fong Keng Sin J.P, Albert Ngan Yun Kiang, Albert Kok Yuk Ken, Yong Wui Chung, Tsang  Hieng Yee; Fam Tze Sin, Sean Tay Yee Chieh, Datuk Mejar Lim Ming Hoo, Chin Shu Ying, Peter Chong Su Leong, Peter Chang Yun Hin, Chiang Butf Shan @ Chiang Bhat Sing, Pak Chee Eng, Pak Fui Fah, Edward Wong Kon Fah, Datuk Ang Chai Hwa, Datin Margaret Chong Mui Ling, Ng Tet Hau, Datuk Mok Kiong, Wong Siong Kong, Chen Wui En,Mr Freddy Goh, Lim Kai Ming,  Datuk Mejar Peter Chin Kee Yong, Goh Chit Yong,Young Pieng, and Lai Fui Ming, Liew said.

He added that at the beginning of the meeting, the supreme council was informed that the notice of the meeting issued by the executive secretary on Friday 8th September 2013 was sent to all the existing supreme council members.

The supreme council also allowed a resolution proposed by a member to shorten the notice period from seven days to two days, as required by the proviso in the rules. The resolution was unaminously agreed on, he said.

The supreme council was also informed of several matters among which was the president’s decision on August 27 to relieve Teo as the secretary general of the party whom he appointed since 2006 and replaced him with Loretto Padua Jr, chairman of the Karambunai Division, with immediate effect.

The supreme council was also informed of the suspension of the LDP Wanita chief, Nancy Lim Guah Eng, and the movement is now under the care of the president.

According to Liew, the supreme council resolved to accept the decision of the president in the above matters  and welcomed the new secretary general, at the same time recorded their deepest appreciation to the services rendered by Teo and Nancy.

The other matter was the president’s decision on August 30 to relieve Ho Jia Lit, the deputy secretary-general, Fong Keng Sin J.P, the treasurer-general, Albert Ngan Yun Kiang, the deputy treasurer-general, Albert Kok Yuk Ken, the chief publicity officer and Yong Wui Chung, the organizing secretary from their positions in the party.
