JOHOR BAHARU: A man was fined RM500, in default a month’s jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for causing hurt to a former DAP Taman Nesa publicity secretary last March.
Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias handed down the sentence on P.Bala, 56, who pleaded guilty to an alternative charge.
Bala, together with two other persons still at large, were charged with voluntarily causing hurt on K Murugan, 42, at Jalan Inang 2, Taman Skudai Baru here at about 9.20pm last March 31.
The offence, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment of up to a year or fine of up to RM2,000, if found guilty. Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Fithril Hakim Ab Jalil, while Bala was represented by lawyer M.Manogaran. — Bernama
