KUCHING: A young man who had just completed serving his custodial sentence returned to jail for another 30 months after pleading guilty to retaining a stolen Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle.

Jipin Suala, 21, from Kpg Kerangan Serian admitted before Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiaman that he was in possession of the stolen motorcycle when arrested by the police at Green Road traffic light intersection about 5.30pm on Sept 6.

The motorcycle worth around RM2,000 was reported missing by its owner at a farm in Bintawa around 3.30pm on Aug 8.

Jipin was convicted under Section 411 of the Penal Code.

It was learnt that the accused had just completed his seven-month imprisonment term after being convicted of a similar offence.

Meanwhile, a teacher suspected to have raped an under-aged student, was placed on a seven-day remand to facilitate police investigation.

Court registrar Abdul Razak Senawi allowed the remand application made by the investigating officer and ordered the 54-year-old suspect to be produced in court on Sept 18 upon the expiry of his remand order.

The suspect, also a warden at the boarding school, is alleged to have raped a 16-year-old girl and was detained at the school on Tuesday evening following a police report.

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
