TICKET TO RIDE: National mountain bike (MTB) rider Junaidah Juss takes a closer look at the new Polygon Cosmiz 3.0 bike.

KUCHING: National mountain bike (MTB) rider Junaidah Juss from Sarawak has received a brand new bike courtesy of Polygon Malaysia.

Junaidah told The Borneo Post recently that the latest Polygon Cosmiz 3.0 mountain bike arrived on Sept 10 which happened to be her birthday.

“Earlier on, I was told by Polygon Malaysia that they will be giving a brand new bicycle soon but it arrived on my birthday,” said the 25-year-old from Sematan, Lundu.

Junaidah is among top three riders in Malaysia who received the new bikes equipped with 29-inch wheels and 10-speed group set.

The trio are also part of the Polygon Malaysia cycling team.

“I still need time to train on the new bike because it is much bigger than the previous one I had but it is definitely much lighter and felt much quicker than the old one,” Junaidah said.

Junaidah is scheduled to compete in Siol Extreme National MTB GP Circuit, organised by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Sarawak Cycling Association (PBS), at the foothill of Bukit Siol along Jalan Semariang on Sept 21-22. She will be down for the Women’s Open Downhill, Women’s Open XC and Sarawak Closed in which top riders from other states are expected to join in the fray.

“I need to win these events because the winners are given GP points and national riders vying for slots for the SEA Games are also coming down,” she added.
