KUCHING: A 43-year-old man from Kampung Haji Baki was fined RM1,500 in default two months’ jail for trespassing on a house at Taman Paul, Jalan Penrissen, sometime last week.

Johan Abek admitted before Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman to have committed the offence about 9pm on Sept 13 and was convicted under Section 448 of the Penal Code.

Johan was also charged with allegedly possessing dangerous weapon, a 16.5cm vegetable knife, following his arrest, to which he claimed trial. Zulhairil released him on RM5,000 bail in one surety pending the disposal of the case. The case will be heard again on Sept 24.

Possessing dangerous weapon is an offence listed under Section 6(1) Section 6(1) of the Corrosive, Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958 which provides for up to two years in jail and whipping upon conviction.

In unrelated case, a secondary school teacher, remanded for alleged rape of an underage student, was yesterday released on police bail.

The 54-year-old teacher who is also a boarding school warden was however not charged following the expiry of his remand order. He was placed on seven-day remand order since Sept 11 for allegedly committing the offence last week.

Before a police report was made, the 16-year-old student told her parents that she was raped by her teacher.
