KOTA SAMARAHAN: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is happy to note that the committee lineup of the party’s branches include youth members.

The Satok assemblyman said that PBB always kept to their tradition of filling committee posts with young faces.

“With the presence of several young and veteran members, a branch would be able to effectively reach out to a wider audience,” said Abang Johari when met by reporters after the PBB Asajaya branch triennial general meeting (TGM) at Kota Samarahan Civic Centre here yesterday.

The changes he said was imperative for PBB as the backbone of the state Barisan Nasional to continue surviving in an evolving political landscape.

Abang Johari also stressed on the importance of branch leaders and members to share the vision of PBB president and Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to make Sarawak a developed and high income state by 2030.

“It is important for the leaders at every level to understand the president’s (Taib) vision and set their sails towards achieving it,” he added.

So far, every PBB meeting which was held in the run up to the PBB Convention next month, according to Abang Johari was held in a proper manner without any major glitches.

The success of the party in having the second biggest number of elected representatives in the Barisan Nasional is attributed to the strong unity and high discipline of its members, he added. — Bernama
