Exempt visa for China businessmen — Chamber

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah branch president Datuk Lau Kok Sing urges the Malaysian government to facilitate and encourage more Chinese investors to the country by exempting visa applications for business visits no longer than one to two weeks.

Lau, who is also MCCC national vice-president, said the close relationship between both countries has not only enabled the exemption of visas for the official representatives to travel to each other’s country, but has also revived the establishment of Bank of China in Malaysia.

“In order to facilitate and encourage more Chinese investors to invest in Malaysia, thereby strengthening our country’s economic activities, I would like to take this opportunity to urge the Malaysian government to continue to facilitate our Chinese investors, by exempting visa applications for business visits no longer than one to two weeks.

“I hope the Malaysian government will give this due consideration, especially given the fact that we are currently faced with the state of the global economy which has yet to recover.”

Lau said that at the second installation ceremony of MCCC Sabah branch executive committee cum third year anniversary celebration of the chamber here on Saturday.

He said the Malaysia-China bilateral relations could be traced way back to the ancient dynasties and was continuously expanding in various aspects.

The two countries’ bilateral trade figure has been steadily increasing for the past few years.
