KUCHING: A woman in her 30s sustained injuries on her hand when her handbag was snatched in front of a departmental store at Jalan Song yesterday evening.
In the incident that occurred around 5pm, the victim was opening the door of her car when a man alighted from his car and sliced the strap of the handbag with a machete, wounding her.
The handbag contained her personal documents, mobile phone, keys and some cash.
In an unrelated case, a man trying to steal a motorbike was caught red-handed by the public.
In the incident, a man living in a flat at Mile 13 along Kuching-Serian Road saw the thief pushing his motorbike away around 7pm on Sunday.
The owner shouted for help and alerted some residents of the flats at a nearby coffee shop. They immediately chased after the suspect and caught him.
He was later handed over to the police.
