KOTA KINABALU: At least six Umno division heads in the state have been returned unopposed and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin attributed this to the continuous trust from their supporters at the respective areas.

Yahya, who is among the six leaders, said that the scenario also showed that the supporters are confident with the incumbent division chiefs to lead the party to greater heights.

The Sabah Umno liaison secretary, in thanking the Umno Putatan supporters, also called on them to continue working closely with him to further strengthen the party in the district.

The Agriculture and Food Industry Minister said this when asked to comment on the significance of the unopposed victory, which includes Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who retained his Libaran Umno Division chief post during the nomination last Saturday.

Three other state cabinet ministers also retained their posts, namely Datuk Masidi Manjun (Ranau), Datuk Hajiji Noor (Tuaran) and Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan (Tawau), while Sabah Umno information chief Datuk Sapawi Ahmad returned unopposed as the Sipitang Umno division chief.

Touching on the party election next month, Yahya said it is up to the members to select the best candidate to lead them at all levels, be it in the divisions and Supreme Council.

“I am satisfied with the smooth running of the nomination process recently. There has been no information of misconduct or untoward incidence,” said Yahya.
