PUTRAJAYA: The latest developments on Ops Cantas are expected to be among the main issues discussed at the Crime-Prevention Forum this Saturday at the D8 auditorium, D Complex, here.

Institute of Public Safety of Malaysia (IPSOM) chief executive, Datuk Dr Ab Rahman Ismail said the relevant working paper would be presented by federal police (Buki Aman) CID director, Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah.

He said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was expected to open the forum organised by IPSOM which would also act as the moderator, with ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan and Nancy Shukri among the panel speakers.

“The forum, from 8am to 1pm, is organised for the sharing of information with the public on the current crime trends. The resolutions from the forum will be submitted to the Home Ministry and government for further action,” he told a news conference, here, yesterday.

Ab Rahman said the 1,500 participants expected at the forum comprised academics, students of higher learning institutions, representatives of non-governmental organisations and bloggers.

In another development, Ab Rahman said IPSOM which was placed under the Home Ministry since its establishment on May 20 following a cabinet decision, had drawn up a number of programmes to be organised until the year-end.

“More research work will be done in collaboration with other departments in the ministry while a journal on public safety will be produced, besides a seminar on Operation Daulat to be held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah at the end of next month.”

He said IPSOM would also be conducting a study on Ops Cantas. — Bernama
