The Ministry of Youth and Sports is in the process of implementing the National Youth Blueprint 2020 in order to enhance the role, contribution and potential of youths.
“It will give special focus and emphasis to young people in all aspects of education, self-development, identification of trends and values, their issues and government delivery system,” said its Minister Khairy Jamaludin when answering a question from Mas Ermiyati Shamsudin (BN-Masjid Tanah) at the Dewan Rakyat here, yesterday.
To Mas Ermiyati’s question of how much had been allocated for youth welfare, Khairy replied that the allocation had been increased from RM46.2 million in 2009 to RM69.6 million this year, besides a RM34.3 million allocation for administration purposes of youth organisations.
Replying to a supplementary question from Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak), Khairy said the ministry was currently working to increase the intake of students at the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) from 10,000 currently to 15,000 a year from next year. — Bernama
