TAWAU: The skipper and crew member of a boat that capsized at Sungai Iman area in Kalabakan at about 2.10am yesterday has been rescued by the marine police here.
Sabah Marine Police commander, ACP Mohammad Madun, said, they have received a distress call at 1.30am and immediately sent out a marine patrol boat PAR 11 to the scene. On arrival at the site of the capsize, marine police found two men, the boat skipper and his crew member, sitting atop the capsized boat bearing number STW 00382 and fitted with a 40hp Yamaha engine and a 40hp Suzuki engine.
The two men were then taken on board the marine police boat and brought back to the marine police jetty. The capsized boat would only be towed back on September 29 in view of the prevailing bad weather yesterday.
