EPF praises govt proposal to introduce value-for-money spending

KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund has welcomed the government’s proposal to introduce value-for-money spending for ministries in the upcoming budget.

Chief executive officer Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan said the initiative ensured that the government gets the best results from the money spent.

“The government does not have endless money sources,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the Khazanah Megatrends Forum 2013 here yesterday.

Shahril Ridza was one of the panelists at the two-day forum.

Earlier yesterday, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the government is expected to announce value-for-money spending initiative for four ministries including finance in the upcoming Budget 2014.

The first phase initiative is planned to be expanded to other ministries next year.

Organised by  Khazanah Nasional Bhd, the forum is being participated by over 600 people from local and foreign corporate figures policymakers and government agencies. — Bernama
