KOTA KINABALU: A local lorry driver will stand trial on March 26 to 28 next year at the Sessions Court here for allegedly raping a minor.

Judge Azreena Aziz fixed the date for Lodinus @Harry Langap, 52, who was charged under Section 376 (2) (d) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and also liable to whipping, upon conviction.

The undefended accused was alleged to have raped the girl aged 15 at a village in Kota Belud at 7pm on September 15.

The court released him on bail of RM10,000 with two local sureties pending disposal of the case and was also ordered to report to the nearest police station, once a month.

Deputy public prosecutor Effizah Ernie Idris told the court that the prosecution would produce 19 witnesses to testify against the accused.
