KUALA LUMPUR: The 2012 Auditor General’s Report issued Tuesday night shows the government’s administrative transparency, said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

He said the reports on the activities of the Federal Government and its  statutory bodies are very comprehensive.

“If (the government is) not transparent, the reports would not have been so comprehensive,” he told reporters after opening the BankTech Asia 2013 Congress here yesterday.

Ahmad said the government takes all the audit comments seriously as they are made for the benefit of all quarters.

“Of course everything is not 100 per cent perfect, but we want government financial procedures to be adhered to at all times, including for purchases.

“All the audit comments should be seen in a positive light, because to some of the recommendations there are responses or additional notes,” he said, while expressing hope that the responses by the relevant quarters do not become an excuse for not improving their identified weaknesses from time to time. — Bernama
