KOTA MARUDU: Police have arrested a chef on suspicion of raping his underage daughter at an unnumbered house here.
District police chief DSP Mohd Isa Yusof said the 35-year-old suspect allegedly raped his nine-year-old daughter while she was sleeping in a room on September 28 around 11.30pm.
Mohd Isa said the girl’s elder sister lodged a police report on Wednesday (October 3) after she saw her father committing the act.
According to the police report, the elder sister was sleeping in a room with her other siblings while the girl (victim) was sleeping alone in another room.
The sister woke up from her sleep around 11.30pm after hearing noises coming from the room where the victim was sleeping.
She peeked through a hole in the wooden wall and saw their father raping her little sister.
Acting on the report, a police team apprehended the suspect at a restaurant on October 3 around 1pm, said Mohd Isa.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between eight and 30 years and not less than 10 strokes of the cane.
