Twin Otter crash lands in Kudat

AT LEAST two people were seriously injured after a Twin Otter overshot the runway near Kampung Sinsan in Kudat.

The Twin Otter belonging to MASWings, was carrying 16 people in the 2.50pm mishap today.

Malaysia Airlines confirmed the incident and said the focus was on the rescue of the passengers and crew.

Update:

Malaysia Airlines in a media statement confirmed the incident, saying the aircraft Twin Otter, DHC6 9M-MDM MH3002 operating from Kota Kinabalu to Kudat, landed short of the runway in Kudat.

There were no reported fatalities as of now.

Malaysia Airlines will continue to monitor the situation at the crash site and update on the situation.

 

Update 2:

Kudat MP Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri immediately called for an investigation of the accident by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).  He said he learnt that there was a strong wind at the time the plane was coming in to land.

Abdul Rahim, who is deputy defence minister, said the Kudat parliamentary office would help the victims of the crash.
