SEPANG: Malaysia’s Moto3 ace Zulfahmi Khairuddin has been declared fit to race in the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2013 which opens today at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) here.

“After being examined by two official MotoGP doctors today, I was found fit to race this weekend,” he said.

It is understood one of the doctors who examined Zulfahmi at the SIC medical unit was Brig Gen Datuk Dr Mohd Zin, the head of the Malaysian MotoGP medical team.

“Although I am not 100 per cent recovered, I believe I can ride my bike here. I can move my wrists now. Tomorrow I will try to forget the pain and focus on my riding,” he said.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider had to undergo surgery on both his wrists at the Universitario Quiron Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona, Spain after crashing in the Aragon Grand Prix last week.

On returning from Spain, Zulfahmi, 21, received follow-up treatment at the National Sports Institute (ISN).

Zulfahmi also extended his thanks to the ISN for helping him to recover. — Bernama
