KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd auxiliary policeman was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit from behind by a Nissan Navara four-wheel-drive vehicle at the Kepayan traffic light intersection, near the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) early yesterday morning.

City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said initial police investigation showed that both the victim and the vehicle were heading to Putatan from the city centre when the incident occurred.

“The victim was thrown about 15 meters away from the point of impact and landed on the road,” Jauteh said.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head and body injuries,” said Jauteh yesterday.

Jauteh said police investigation showed the four-wheel-drive vehicle was registered with a company from Sarawak.

He said the victim’s body has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem and the case would be investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Jauteh urged eyewitness to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
