KUCHING: DAP Sarawak has come up with a newsletter in Bahasa Malaysia to disseminate political and social-related information to the rural populace.

Its chairman Chong Chieng Jen, when unveiling the inaugural edition here yesterday, said the newsletter formed part of the ‘Impian Sarawak’ and ‘DAP Go Rural’ campaigns.

“The main thrust is to disseminate information to the rural folk because while the BN (Barisan Nasional) can easily do so through television and radio stations, apart from the print media, there are always restrictions for us.

“So we decided to come up with a newsletter to highlight problems such as mismanagement of public funds, corruption, malpractices and other wrongdoings by the BN government.”

Chong, who is also Bandar Kuching MP and Kota Sentosa assemblyman, said they had printed 20,000 copies of the inaugural edition to be distributed free of charge to the public.

He added that it would be a monthly publication due to financial constraints.

Chong said Pakatan Rakyat, of which the DAP is a component party, would continue to make use of Radio Free Sarawak (RFS).

“We want to use whatever mode possible and available to us to disseminate information to the rural people, and RFS is one of them.”
