SIBU: The Sessions Court here yesterday struck out a robbery case following the death of the accused, 38-year-old Ting Liong Kuong, on Sept 28.

When Ting was last brought before the court, he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on RM15,000 bail with two local sureties.

He was charged with another person still at large under Section 394 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same code for voluntarily causing hurt when committing robbery.

The charge provides for a maximum imprisonment of 20 years, and liability to a fine or whipping upon conviction.

Hearing was scheduled to begin yesterday.

Ting allegedly committed the offence on a man surnamed Sia on April 21 at about 9pm at a cyber cafe in Tapah Road.

Ting was said to have been shot dead on Sept 28 when he and a few others were stealing fighting cocks in a farm at Mile 9 Oya Road.

According to earlier news reports, the police confirmed Ting had been sent to Simpang Rengam Detention Camp before for a string of crimes.

It was said that after Ting was killed, the rest of the members of his purported Gang of Four fled and left his body in a van at Mile 4.

Ting’s body was first found by a construction worker on Sept 28 at about 9am.

The worker sensed something amiss when the van did not have registration plates.

When he found Ting’s body he called his boss, and the latter called the police.

The same day, police arrested three other members of the gang as well as the two men at the farm who were said to have fired at Ting.
