SANDAKAN: A 25-year-old man was jailed for three months by a Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for criminally threatening a female airline staff at Sandakan Airport.

Suardi Mide pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohamed Zairi Zainal Abidin under Section 506 of the Penal Code to threatening Nurul Azidah Mustamin by saying, “If I do not get my money, I will find you.”

Suardi was also charged with two counts of the same offence for obstructing two police officers, Yam Anak Biju and Mohd Fadzliee Mohd Zain with criminal force, and was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for each charge, both under Section 353 of the Penal Code.

According to the facts of case, Nurul Azidah lodged a police report stating that the incident happened on October 2 at around 2.40pm when she was on duty at a ticketing office at Mile 7 airport here.

The suspect walked into the ticketing office to purchase a flight ticket to Kuala Lumpur for October 7. However, he did not have his MyKad with him and presented only his birth certificate.

Nurul Azidah informed him that he was required to get certification on his documents from the Immigration department before the flight, and Suardi said he understood.

On October 9 at around 10.30am, Suardi returned to the office angry, as the Immigration Department did not allow him to board his plane due to problems with his identification documents.

He threatened the woman and demanded for a refund of the money used to purchase the flight ticket, and later acted aggressively towards two police officers who were trying to break their fight in public.
