SRI AMAN: Wendy Ling Jia Jing, 18, from Sarikei was crowned Miss Benak Tourism 2013 during the annual Benak (tidal bore) Festival on Saturday.

Dressed in a black night gown, Ling beat nine finalists and took home the grand prize of RM2,000.

First runner-up was Ragnall Jonathan, 20, from Sri Aman, who won herself RM1,750 cash, and second runner-up was Nur Fitrah Jamaluddin, 20, from Sarikei, who bagged RM1,500.

The Miss Photegenic subsidiary title was won by Mariam Alipnor, 24, from Betong. She was rewarded with RM800 cash.

The Miss Talented subsidiary title went to Vanella Michael, 23, from Sarikei, and the title came with a cash prize of RM800.

All winners also took home a trophy, a bouquet of flowers, and hair care products.

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis’s wife Datin Simba Nallang and Dewan Negara Deputy president Senator Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie gave away the prizes to the winners. Also present were Harden, Sri Aman Resident Jonathan Lugoh and Sri Aman district officer Ismawie Salleh.
