Affrick Atan Jambai

MIRI: A partly decomposed body was found floating in Sungai Arang here, about 20 minutes’ drive from Miri city at about 8.30am yesterday.

The discovery was made after members of the public saw a motorcycle floating in a shallow part of the river.

The police who were called to the scene later found not far from the bike a body – head clad in a helmet – believed to be that of the motorcyclist.

Miri police chief, ACP Mun Kock Keong when contacted yesterday confirmed the case and classified it as sudden death.

Mun said the deceased was Affrick Atan Jambai, 20, based on an identity card in his wallet found by police. The wallet also contained cash.

“We will carry a postmortem to confirm the cause of death,” he added.
