Selangor police smash Latin, local burglary gangs

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have crippled a burglary gang comprising Colombian and Spanish nationals active in Shah Alam and a local house break-in group known as Michael gang active in Kajang, Puchong and Serdang in two separate operations since Wednesday.

Selangor police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan told a media conference here yesterday that through Ops Pintu, police nabbed two suspects loitering around Kota Kemuning in a car which matched one used in an earlier burglary in Section 8, Shah Alam.

After apprehending them in Persiaran Kuala Selangor, police found various tools and equipment used for house breaking in the car.

In follow up investigations, police detained two more suspects the next day at a hotel and an apartment in the Klang Valley and seized stolen items such as tablets, laptops, branded watches, cameras and jewellery.

The four suspects comprised three men and a woman aged between 26 and 44 years, in which two of them held Colombian and Spanish passports while two others only held Colombian passports.

He said they carried out their activities in the morning after the house occupants had left for work and they would ring the bell to ensure there were no one at home.

They were remanded for 14 days and would be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, he said.

Mohd Shukri said on Wednesday, Serdang police through Ops Cantas detected a car used in a burglary in Jalan Klang Lama and upon inspection, police seized various equipment for burglary.

The suspects later led police to a premises in Jalan Klang Lama and two more suspects were nabbed and police seized a toy pistol and recovered items such as laptops and branded watches believed to be house break-in loot in Kajang, Puchong and Serdang, he said.

The four members of the Michael gang aged between 27 and 46 years were found to have past criminal records and were screened positive for syabu.

They were remanded until Monday and would investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
