YAN: The Barisan Nasional(BN) candidate for the Sungai Limau state seat by-election, Dr Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim yesterday denied a rumour which has been circulating that he would be pulling out of the contest this Nov 4.

He said the issue, in fact, never arose as he was fully committed to the responsibility and trust given to him by the BN leadership.

“Whatever happens, I will continue. Even before the nomination day, I was already determined to carry on till the end.

“There is no reverse gear in this. I will continue with the mission. That is my commitment,” he told reporters in an interview with the media this morning at the BN operations centre in Sungai Limau, here, when asked about the rumour.

On his self-styled campaigning, Ahmad Sohaimi said he preferred to go around alone to meet the voters without wide media coverage as he respected the culture of the local community who disliked grand-scale or overly aggressive campaigning.

He was confident that his strategy which was in line with the campaign approach taken by Kedah BN chairman Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir would not affect  BN’s chances of winning in the by-election. — Bernama
