Local jailed for retaining stolen vehicle

KOTA KINABALU: A local man pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to a charge of retaining a stolen vehicle.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus sentenced Michle Mursidi, 29, to six months imprisonment for the offence framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code.

Michle Mursidi admitted to possessing the stolen Perodua Kancil belonging to a 37-year-old man, at a Shell Station in Kampung Air on October 22, this year, at 2.55am.

The charge carries a jail term of up to five years, and is liable to a fine, upon conviction.

In a separate case, Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus sentenced Fauziah Bakar, 34, to two months jail after she pleaded guilty to stealing RM159.90 worth of cosmetic products from a hypermarket.

The accused was charged with stealing five large boxes of Pixy Whitening Two Way Cake and five smaller boxes of Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake from the Giant Hypermarket, Kolombong on October 26, this year.

The offence under Section 380 of the Penal Code provides for maximum of ten years jail, and is liable to a fine, on conviction.

According to the facts of case, Fauziah was caught on the premise’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras leaving the store without paying for the items.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus fined Jeffery Jamalul, 30, RM25, in default, seven days jail for sending a threatening short text message (SMS) to a 31-year-old acquaintance.

The offence under Section 8 (1) (e) of the Minor Offences Ordinance carries a maximum penalty of RM25, in default, seven days jail, on conviction.

The court was told that in the SMS which the accused sent were the words: “mati kamu ne malam, DAN memang kamu anjing dua-dua!!! SIAL!”

Inspector Azaman Hamat prosecuted in all the cases.
