YAN: The hanging of provocative mannequin legs near several BN operation centres here is a foolish act and the Barisan Nasional (BN) is not involved in such an antic, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the BN had lodged a police report as soon as it was alerted on the incident.

“We do not do a silly thing like that as it would inflame anger and hatred. It is certainly not our way.

“I do not know who is responsible for this. What is certain, they think by resorting to such antic the people will get angry with BN,” he told reporters after chairing the BN machinery meeting at the Sungai Limau Dalam BN Operations Room here, yesterday.

He was commenting on a police report lodged over the provocative mannequin legs being put up near BN operation centres in Bukit Besar, Titi Batu and Simpang Tiga, Sungai Limau Luar Saturday.

It is learnt that the mannequin legs, from the waist down with one of the legs amputated, were written with words ‘kaki ustaz’ (ustaz’s legs), implying the condition of the former Sungai Limau assemblyman the late Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak whose legs were amputated due to diabetes.

On DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s statement that the Sungai Limau state by-election would determine whether former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was still influential in Kedah, Muhyiddin said Lim could have an ulterior motive for saying that.

“It’s not about Tun Mahathir still has the influence not. The election machinery is under the tutelage of Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz (Tun Mahathir) and I am assisting him at the federal level to garner support from the voters here.

“So this is not confined to individuals as implied by Lim Kit Siang. I do not know why he had to be very personal in this matter. Is he after vendetta. He is bent on bad intent,” said Muhyiddin. — Bernama
