The wooden houses destroyed in Saturday’s night fire.
NABAWAN: Two wooden houses at Kampung Bahagia here were destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.
The houses belonged to Manggis Samaan, 60, and Pusara Lahang, 63.
Keningau Fire and Rescue Department chief Janil Jaya said yesterday that the department received an emergency call around 8.53pm and immediately rushed a fire tender and six personnel to the scene.
“Five volunteer firefighters from Nabawan also assisted in the operation to put down the fire,” he said.
Janil added the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other houses and put it out by 11.25pm.
There was no report of casualties.
He added that the cause of the fire and damage were still under investigation.
Meanwhile, Pensiangan Umno vice chief Ulin Datuk Pamiang provided assistance to the fire victims yesterday.
