Quit move a betrayal – Tian Chua

PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Tian Chua said Kadamaian assemblyman Jeremy Malajad @ Malazad had betrayed the party by resigning and becoming an independent.

“PKR vehemently condemns this unethical act,” he said in a statement yesterday.

On speculation that PKR’s Matunggong assemblyman Jailani Hamdan would also quit the party, Tian Chua said that a show-cause letter would be delivered to Jailani.

He denounced Jeremy and Jailani’s claim to a loss of faith in the party leadership as an excuse.

“A defection such as this is the usual modus operandi for BN in Sabah to try and weaken the spirit of the people’s fight for change,” he said.

Tian Chua also called for Sabahans to be united and advised them not to be influenced by Barisan’s “tactics”.

Jeremy said he was quitting the party to become a BN-friendly independent as the move would benefit his constituents from Barisan’s development programmes in the state.

Jailani said he would not rule out the possibility of leaving the party, adding that he could not work with Sabah PKR chief Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin.

Jailani was quoted as saying that both PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Lajim had ignored calls for better representation of the Kadazandusun-Rungus communities in the state PKR liaison line-up.
