TAWAU: A man suffered burns as fire destroyed six houses at Kampung Pasir Putih, Block C here yesterday morning.

District Fire and Rescue Department station chief Rudy Fredzex said the victim was burnt during the incident and was taken to the Tawau Hospital.

He said there were no casualties reported in the fire that occurred at about 10.30pm.

Rudy said the department received a distress call at 10.35am and twenty firemen in two fire engines were on the scene at 10.36am.

He said the firemen put the fire under control at 12.01pm while the operation ended at 12.17pm.

The firemen were also assisted by eight civil defence personnel and the police to control the public, he said.

Rudy said it was raining at the time of incident and the cause of fire was still under investigation.

He advised the public to be careful because fire can happen any time and at any place and the public should ensure they maintain all electrical equipment.
