Murder: Filipino duo’s trial postponed

KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday adjourned to December 12 this year the case of two Filipino labourers charged with murdering a local youth.

Magistrate Edward Paul set the date to re-mention the case of Ibno Saud, 27, and Moksin Yasir, 21, as the post-mortem report of the victim was not ready.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng prayed for another mention date pending the production of the report.

The undefended accused persons were alleged to have killed a 29-year-old Ibnu Parahan by slitting his throat at a water tank at Kampung Binaung Baru in Menggatal between August 21 and 22.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.

They were ordered to be held further pending disposal of the case.

In an unrelated case, local Johar Nur, 35, claimed trial in the same court here to a charge of possessing gambling implements.

Johar was charged under Section 9 (1) of the Common Gaming House 1953 which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or a jail term of up to six months or both, upon conviction.

The accused was caught having three pieces of paper written with Wah Hui riddle, a carbon book, a pen and RM20 in cash at an area of a market in front of a hotel here at 4.40pm on September 29.

The magistrate fixed November 20 this year for case management and released the accused on RM2,500 bail with two local sureties.

Apart from that, he was also ordered to report once a week to the nearest police station pending his trial.
