KUCHING: Bandar Samariang Resort City (BSRC), a premier integrated resort destination located at the suburb of North Kuching, with gross development value of RM2 billion is set to spur Sarawak’s tourism industry.

BSRC, which will house a water theme park, safari park, resort accommodations, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) facilities, facilities for extreme outdoor activities as well as commercial and residential development will bring a new facelift to the landscape of the city here.

The resort city is jointly developed by Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) in collaboration with another Main Market listed company known as Sentoria Group Bhd (Sentoria).

During the launch, CMS group managing director Datuk Richard Curtis said, “We welcome the project launch of a truly transformational entertainment and leisure experience.

“The pedigree of Sentoria makes them the best possible owner and operator of a project on this scale. Main Market listed, they have a track record of similar successful project in Kuantan’s Bukit Gambang Resort City.

“To CMS, this is not so much a strategic land sale but instead a project that stands for opportunity,” he said in his speech before the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here yesterday.

Aside from that, Curtis said BSRC facilities will also focus on family as well as healthy outdoor recreational activities that is suitable to Kuching’s population.

He believed that BSRC will be another tourist attraction in the future adding that the resort will provide increased tourists arrivals as well more reasons for visitors to stay longer here.

On the other hand, Sentoria joint managing director Datuk Gan Kim Leong said, “I would like to take this opporunity to share our experience in developing our Bukit Gambang Resort City (BGRC) which is located not far from Kuantan, Pahang.
