LIMBANG: Police arrested a 19-year-old youth for allegedly raping his handicapped neighbour at a house in Jalan Pandaruan here last month.
The victim’s mother lodged a police report on Monday this week after suspecting something was amiss when her 24-year-old bubbly daughter suddenly turned moody and jittery .
Limabang OCPD Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai confirmed that a report had been lodged and the arrest of the 19-year-old prime suspect on Tuesday and roped in another suspect to assist in investigation.
The incident is reported to have occurred between October and early November while the victim, who was sitting at the stairs of her neighbour’s house, was told to enter and lay on the floor.
The suspect was reported to have forced her to have sex with him, and later warned her not to relate it to anyone.
The victim has been sent for medical examination and treatment.
Mohd Bukhori said the case has been classified as rape, an offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code, punishable with imprisonment not exceeding 30 years and whipping.
