KOTA BAHARU: The National Heritage Foundation will be set up soon, aimed at protecting the people’s cultural identity.
Social and cultural affairs adviser to the government, Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim said it was also to ensure continuity of the local cultural practices and arts so that these would not become extinct.
“InsyaAllah (God willing), the foundation will be established soon. It is free from politics but focusing on preservation of our culture and heritage, particularly Malay and Islamic-based arts.
“This effort requires planning at all levels of culture and heritage proponents to determine the future of our national culture,” he said after paying a courtesy call on Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob at his office in Kota Darul Naim, here, yesterday. — Bernama
