THE proposed allocation of RM75 million in the 2014 Budget for the Eastern Sabah Security Command’s (Esscom) devotes to operating expenses to strengthen its operations, the Dewan Rakyat was told yesterday.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the allocation did not include the construction of resettlement areas for residents affected by the Sulu armed incursion.
The housing construction in the relocation areas will be handled by the National Housing Department, he said when replying to a supplementary question from First Admiral (R) Mohamad Imran Abdul Hamid (PKR-Lumut).
To a question from Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur (BN-Silam), Shahidan said the government had yet to decide whether to demolish water villages in the Silam parliamentary constituency. — Bernama
