KUALA LUMPUR: It was smooth sailing for world number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei in the final of the Hong Kong Open Super Series held at the Hong Kong Colloseum, yesterday.

The top ranked men’s singles player crushed Indonesian Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-13, 21-9 in just 34 minutes to bag his third Hong Kong Open title, according to www.tournamentsoftware.com here, yesterday.

This is the sixth Super Series title the 2012 London Olympics silver medallist had won this year.

In the women’s singles, Wang Yihan of China claimed victory after overcoming teammate Wang Shixian 21-13, 16-21, 21-15, while in women’s doubles which was also an all-China final, Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua had to work hard to beat Ou Dongni/Tang Yuanting 18-21, 21-16, 21-15.

In the mixed doubles final, English pair Chris Adcock/Gabrielle White ousted Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin of China 21-14, 24-22 for the title, while in an all-South Korea men’s doubles final, Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong outshined Kim Ki Jung/Kim Sa Rang 12-21, 21-15, 21-18 to emerge victorious. — Bernama
