LAHAD DATU: A 44-year-old man died after he was knocked down by a vehicle while crossing the road at Km 3.5 Jalan Lahad Datu-Tawau near Bandar Sri Perdana on Saturday.
Maslee bin Lumayan succumbed to injuries while being rushed to the hospital here after he was knocked down by a Toyota four-wheel drive vehicle that was heading to the town centre from Bandar Sri Perdana about 6.30pm.
“Initial investigation revealed that the 35-year-old driver of the Toyota vehicle was not able to avoid knocking the victim who crossed the road suddenly,” said district police chief Superintendent Shamsudin Mat yesterday.
Shamsudin added that the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
