Crowning Miss Cheongsam Malaysia for 24th year

KUCHING: Alaric’s Productions Company is organising the Miss Cheongsam Malaysia (MCM) for the 24th consecutive year as a charitable event to celebrate Chinese New Year.

“We are promoting Chinese culture, fostering friendship among the Chinese community, and providing participants the opportunity experience and a stepping stone to further their careers,” organiser Alaric Soh said at a press conference here yesterday.

The MCM 2014 is now open for entries to all Malaysian Chinese single ladies aged 18 to 25 years old.

A total of 18 participants from all over Malaysia will be selected for the grand finals. They will be gathered in Kuching City from Feb 8 to 13, 2014 for the grand final to be held on the 14th day of the Chinese New Year (Feb 13) at Riverside Majestic Hotel Kuching.

The closing date for entry is Dec 25 this year. Participants can send their entry including IC name, two most recent photos, age, height, hometown and contact Whatsapp or Wechat by SMS to 014-6800000 or Alaric Soh on Facebook.

The winners gets RM5,000 cash, first runner-up RM2,000, second runner-up RM1,500, third runner-up RM1,000, and fourth runner-up RM500.

Subsidiary title holder Best Cheongsam receives RM500, Miss Talent RM500, Miss Personality RM300, Miss Photogenic RM300, and Miss Friendship RM300.

“This year, we hope more participants from Sarawak will take part to get experience, self-confidence, and for a good cause,” he said.

All return air-tickets, hotel accommodation, and contest attire except the cheongsam wear for the finals will be provided by the organiser.

Training in catwalk, stage presentation, makeup and beauty grooming will be provided by Alaric Image, Personality and Beauty Grooming Academy.

The Miss Cheongsam pageant is organised by Alaric Soh of Alaric’s Productions Company (set up in 1983), a reputable beauty pageant organiser, and the only organiser in the world that is ISO9001:2000 certified for Quality Management in Beauty Pageants.

Soh is also the organiser of the hugely popular Miss Tourism Intercontinental, Miss Tourism Pageant and Miss Borneo Beautiful.

At the press conference, the chairman of the board of management of Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS) No.1, 3 and 4, Richard Wee thanked the organiser for raising about RM50,000 for the schools over past 10 years.

“I hope more organisations and corporates follow the example of Alaric’s Production Company in supporting Chinese education,” he said. Apart from the three Chung Hua Middle Schools, the proceeds also go to Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng (SHNST).

Among those present were MCM 2014 advisor Michael Teo, SHNST treasurer Tay Boon Sin, organising committee members Maison Monica Hair and Beauty Academy’s principal Monica Then and its beauty consultant Angeline Kiew.
