Malaysian, Thai armies to continue joint border patrol

KANGAR: The Malaysian Army and the Royal Thai Army (RTA) will continue to carry out border cooperation including joint patrol introduced 10 years ago.

Border Brigade commander Brig Gen Hasagaya Abdullah said a joint patrol between the two armies would be carried out for the second time this year from Dec 14.

Speaking to reporters after the 28th Joint Border Patrol meeting in Kuala Perlis today, he said the joint patrol would take about 14 days and would be held twice a year.

The first joint patrol this year was held in March, he added.

The meeting involved senior officers of Border Brigade headed by Hasagaya while RTA was represented Fifth Infantry Regiment senior officers headed by its commander, Colonel Paisan Nhusang. — BERNAMA
