RM41.4 million for Agriculture Dept

THE state government has approved a RM41.4 million allocation for the Department of Agriculture to implement

on-going projects under the crops, livestock, aquaculture and development support programmes next year.

Additionally, the federal government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry and the Ministry of Primary Industries and Commodities in principle has approved a total of RM112.3 million for Sarawak, says Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu in his winding-up speech yesterday.

Jabu said that from the amount (RM112.3 mil) agriculture and aquaculture programmes would take up RM6.9 million, veterinary and livestock programmes (RM5.4 mil), National Key Economic Area (NKEA) paddy development (RM20 mil) and NKEA rubber development (RM77 mil).

“In addition to the allocation from (federal) Agriculture Ministry we are also receiving a total of RM12.38 million from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development for the maintenance of the 9th Malaysia Plan rubber planting projects, Group Processing Centre (GPC) projects and for upgrading of farm roads,” he added.
